Following recent exceptional results at A level, which placed the college as the 11th most successful state-funded school nationally, students and staff at St Paul’s are celebrating outstanding results at GCSE.

It has been great to celebrate this success with students, staff and families and the dedication of students and staff have led to really impressive progress and grades.

— Phil Byrne, Director of Key Stage 4 Achievement

Overall 80% of students achieved A*-C grades including English and Maths, including the newly introduced gradings in English and Maths.

Some exceptional results included the following students who achieved 9 or more A*/A grades including the top 9-7 gradings in English in Maths.

  • Emily Appaya
  • Sammie Barker
  • Edward Burton
  • Lorraine Esteves
  • Denis Georgescu
  • Rosie Hastings
  • Isabelle Lodge
  • Ellen Marchant
  • Sophia Nabeel
  • Shawn Shabu
  • Alex Woods

The two top performers were Emily Appaya and Edward Weatherley who both achieved 10 A* grades and 1 A grade. These grades are particularly impressive in that the new curriculum looked to stretch top performance and both Emily and Ed achieved the top 9 grades in both English and Maths which have been awarded to only the top 3% nationally.

We are all very proud of the results today, the commitment of the students and inspiration of staff over the last two years has made all the difference. We look forward to welcoming many of them back to life in the Sixth Form here at St Paul’s as we open the next chapter together.

— Rob Carter, Headteacher
