The STEM team from our school recently had the chance to attend a Competition Launch event in Haywards Heath Town Hall, and it was such an exciting experience! At the event, our team of Year 9 students got to explore a lot of cool technologies and learn more about science, technology, engineering, and maths. One of the highlights was seeing a drone that was built to show us what we could achieve with it. We not only got to see how it worked, but we also listened to detailed explanations about the challenges involved in making the drone and how the competition will take place.
Our team will be designing, making and flying a non-autonomous quadcopter / drone. It was really interesting to learn about the different stages of the challenge and how we will use our skills at weekly club meetings to solve real-world problems for our final challenge on 4th of July, 2025.
In addition, there were hands-on activities, and inspiring speakers who shared their own experiences of working in STEM. The event gave me a better understanding of how STEM is shaping the future and made me even more excited to keep learning about these amazing fields!
