Our Team
Keith Perera
Keith has been at St Paul's since 2004 and currently is an Assistant Head at the school. His responsibilities in school include being Director of the Inspire Teaching School Alliance and Senior Lead for the Sussex Maths Hub.
Vanessa Milne
The Support Manager for the Inspire Teaching School Alliance, Vanessa coordinates recruitment of all School Direct places and other teaching school events and bookings.

In order to be considered for the train to teach School Direct programme, you will need to meet the following entry requirements:
- GCSE in Mathematics and English Language Grade C or above
- For Primary places, a GCSE Grade C or above for Science
- A UK Bachelor’s degree classification of 2:2 or above or an equivalent qualification as judged against NARIC
- The degree must normally contain at least 50% subject content in the proposed subject area for teaching
- Satisfactory performance in the professional skills tests prior to entry
- You will be required to undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check to verify your suitability for working with young people.
You will need to submit a personal statement which...
- Demonstrates a commitment and passion for teaching.
- Provides evidence of and reflect on the in-school experience you have gained (voluntary and paid).
- Provides evidence of other relevant experiences that have contributed to your personal or professional development (for example, previous careers, voluntary or charitable work or other experiences).
- Is well written and grammatically sound.
You will also need to submit a reference...
which recommends the applicant for a career in teaching. It will read positively about the applicant’s academic achievements and also their personal qualities and attributes. The reference will outline the applicant’s prior classroom and other in-school experiences.

- All trainee teachers must be checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) through the ‘Disclosure’ process and will be assessed for suitability.
- All offers for places on the Inspire Teaching School Alliance Train to Teach programme are ‘conditional’ subject to receiving a satisfactory disclosure from the DBS.
At Train to Teach, we offer both Primary and Secondary programmes through the School Direct route. If you decide to apply for a place on one of our programmes, you will need to access the application online through the UCAS website.
