An Industrial Action will take place on 5th of July. This event is organised by trades unions about on-going changes to education policy and school funding reforms.

We have been informed by the National Union of Teachers that they will be taking industrial action in the form of a strike on 5th July 2016. This action is not against St Paul’s itself but is part of national industrial action organised by trades unions about on-going changes to education policy and school funding reforms. We have done all we can to minimise disruption to the life of the College.

Our primary focus is the safety, learning and welfare of all of our students so we have planned appropriately to achieve this next week.

The plan for the day will be as follows:

  • All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will be in College as usual, including key activities planned for Creative Learning Day. We will have a structured timetable and opportunities for continued learning and study. We believe it is important that our students are well supported and have strived to ensure consistency in their lessons.
  • In Year 10, only Art students will be expected to be in school. All other students should study independently at home.
  • Year 12 students will be asked to study independently at home or in college to help support the start of their A2 studies.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to you and your families. I am also very grateful to those who have helped to ensure we can support the year groups as outlined above.

We all hope that the issues over which the industrial action has arisen will be resolved as soon as possible. If this industrial action is called off we will contact you at the earliest opportunity.
