Effective two-way communication between student, parent and teacher is essential in supporting our young learners to reach their full potential.
Our teachers report to parents up to three times a year using a mixture of reporting styles:

INTERIM
Grades and concern codes from teachers regarding the student’s approach to their learning, effort in class, meeting ILT deadlines and conduct.

MOCK
Grades and concern codes for Year 11, 12 and 13 students following the mock examinations in December/January.

Together, we can make a real difference
Research shows that when schools and parents work together, learners do better. Maintaining an open, positive and supportive three-way relationship between student, teacher and parent is paramount to the success of your child. We ask that all parents attend Parents' Evening and recommend that you do so with your child for maximum benefit.
Before you arrive, please read your child's report, talk to your child about it and make a list of any questions you would like to ask your child's teacher. This can be a good starting point for discussing your child's progress and achievements. The report will usually contain some advice from the teacher on what your child can do to continue making progress. If there is anything in the report that you don't understand, ask your child's teacher about it at the parents' evening.
Parents' Evening can be an anxious time for parents. Our staff will make you feel welcome, helping you to relax and get the most out of the evening. It may be helpful to make notes so that you can reflect on the discussions you have had with your child's teachers when you get home. Appointments are short; if you feel this is not enough time to discuss everything that you need to, contact your child's teacher to arrange further discussion.
Appointments for Parents' Evening are made online. We will contact you several weeks before the evening with instructions for booking appointments.
Grades Explained
The grading system is changing
The government have changed the way that students are graded; the changes affect all students taking their exams in or after 2017. Instead of grades ranging from A* to G, the new system will grade students from 1 to 9 (9 being the highest possible grade).
The new system allows for greater differentiation between students previously achieving C and above. The old system does not directly correlate to the new system but the government have advised that approximately the same proportion of students who currently achieve a grade A or higher will receive a grade 7 or higher. Those students who currently achieve grade C or higher will receive a grade 4 or higher. Grade 9 will be a new grade for very high performing students, to be set as the top fifth of the current A grades. Grade 5 will be the benchmark for a 'good pass'. Grade 1 will be the same as grade G.
